1 month agoI played solo and then in a band for a few years and tbh I would recommend either jamming or picking some songs to play together. Play the songs again and again, make the effort to listen to each other, and try to have fun with it. It’s the only way imho
It can be as improvisational as people are comfortable with. Maybe you could suggest that everyone bring a song, with some printouts ideally? A lot depends on the style(s) of music too. You could make sure you have some songs ready i.e. practiced too. If at least one person knows what they’re doing, it takes the pressure off everyone else
